Which email program can I use?
You can use all current email programs, i.e. Outlook, Thunderbird and Windows Mail on your PC, laptop, Android and Apple cell phone. In order to be able to retrieve an email address using an email program, you will first need to configure the email program for the desired email address. You only need the email server addresses, the user names and the password for the email address in order to configure the email program.
Alternatively, instead of using an email program, you also have the option of using our free STRATO webmailer. You only need your email address and the email password to log in to the Communicator.
Configuration possibilities in email management
You can set up corresponding email addresses for the domain names in your hosting package. The flexible mail storage from STRATO makes it possible to individually and flexibly configure the mailbox size for each of your email mailboxes. You have the ability to precisely define the mailbox size down to a single megabyte and adjust your requirements at any time..
You can use these email addresses in different ways, either by using a real mailbox with us (POP3 or IMAP) and/or setting up forwarding to a different mailbox.
How do I set up email forwarding (forwarder)?
When using several email addresses, it is possible to forward one or several email addresses to a different email address. The advantages here are that only one email mailbox has to be retrieved and all incoming emails are collected in one mailbox. Only one email mailbox has to be set up on your end device.
Log in to your password-protected customer login and select the menu options Email Administration. Now you will see an overview of your email addresses. Select the desired email address and select the option Edit filter. Click on the Create new filter rule button and assign a name for the filter rule and determine which criteria must apply in order to execute the desired action, for example a redirect.
How can I set up an email account on an Android smartphone?
In order to be able to use an email account with your Android smartphone, it will be necessary to set up the email account on your smartphone first.
Please open the email client on your Android device. Open the settings in the email client and click on Add account. Enter your email address and the corresponding password and select the account type. Then click on Next to continue the setup. Your information will be verified. After inspecting this information, you will be taken to the account options. In the account options, you can configure different settings; e.g. synchronization frequency.
You can use the email account once the setup is complete.
Sending and receiving emails with Outlook 2013
With the Autodiscover function, configuration can be performed in a more or less automated manner. The Autodiscover function is already enabled for you in every STRATO hosting package.
First of all, please launch Outlook 2010 and click on the Start / Add account menu option. In the subsequent configuration for email setup, enter your name (you may choose any name), your email address, and the corresponding email password. After entering your data, please click on the Next button. Outlook will now automatically search for the required server settings. During the search, you will receive a notification; please confirm it. The notification appears because STRATO stores the settings in a central file that cannot be reached via your domain. Your mailbox is automatically set up with encrypted settings. Switching to SSL manually is no longer required.
